It is with a great sort of pleasure that I launch this brand new CapChord website today, with freshly laundered sheets and a new brand identity to compliment.

CapChord is not ‘new’. It has been around since 2021. First offering closed captioning services, then tech support, and then reaching its current state – a home for web-related doings.

It was time for a change, however. The world is changing, and with it one must adapt. In 2026, there are two clear ways to adapt:

1. Go all in on artificial intelligence (AI).
2. Hone in on craft.

It should be evident from the design of this page which path CapChord has chosen.

CapChord’s website pulls from the early years of the WWW. The site is simple, with semantic markup. It is just as functional in the latest version of Google Chrome as it is in the text-only Lynx browser. You’ll find new-age cyber terms in use with the capitalisations and formatting expected of them. You’ll find suggestions to clear your cache for the latest content, recommendations to bookmark pages, and 88x31 badges in the footer.

That isn’t to say that the CapChord site is stuck in the past, however. This site automatically respects light and dark preferences, as well as reduced contrast preferences. It is responsive to mobile devices and uses modern image formats. It is built on modern technologies. The site is fast, accessible, and serves the user – everything that CapChord stands for.

Such a site design may not be the flashiest and certainly won’t be ending up on Awwwards. It is utilitarian with a focus on content. Design is tight but logical, and the purpose of the site is served. If you’re here for a specific bit of information that this site is designed to hold, then here you will find it without obstruction.

In a commitment to and in embrace of the web, CapChord’s new logo was made in a web browser. Not using a web app, but using HTML, CSS, and an SVG filter. You can view it below and even interact with it. It is built on the web, after all.
